Heidelberg is located in the south-west of Germany, roughly 80km south of Frankfurt a. M. and 80km north-west of Stuttgart.

Travelling to Heidelberg

By airplane:

Within 100km distance, three airports are located:

Frankfurt International Airport - the largest airport in Germany, providing connections to almost everywhere in the world
Stuttgart Airport - convenient airport slightly outside of the city of Stuttgart
Baden Airpark - smaller airport close to the city of Karlsruhe with convenient connections

In larger range, also the airports of Basel, Strasbourg, Munich and Cologne-Bonn are within a 2-3 hours trip by train or car.

By train:

Heidelberg is easy to reach by train. German high-speed trains are running via Mannheim or Karlsruhe,
both providing tram connections directly to Heidelberg.
Express or regional trains conncet Heidelberg directly to many other cities.

By car:

Heidelberg is directly connected to the German highway net system, laying conveniently close to the crossing points of two major connection routes,
one north-south (A5) and one east-west (A6).

The city of Heidelberg is an old city, showing very good car traffic connections, but sometimes narrow streets.
However, parking lots are limited - especially within the city center.
Be aware of parking fees!
