Travelling to Heidelberg
Within 100km distance, three airports are located:
Frankfurt International Airport - the largest airport in Germany, providing connections to almost everywhere in the world
Stuttgart Airport - convenient airport slightly outside of the city of Stuttgart
Baden Airpark - smaller airport close to the city of Karlsruhe with convenient connections
Heidelberg is easy to reach by train. German high-speed trains are running via Mannheim or Karlsruhe,
both providing tram connections directly to Heidelberg.
Express or regional trains conncet Heidelberg directly to many other cities.
Find more information (including on-line booking of train connections) about the trains running here.
Heidelberg is directly connected to the German highway net system, laying conveniently close to the crossing points of two major connection routes,
one north-south (A5) and one east-west (A6).
Travel information for reaching the city by car can be obtained here.
The city of Heidelberg is an old city, showing very good car traffic connections, but sometimes narrow streets.
However, parking lots are limited - especially within the city center.
Be aware of parking fees!
